If you’ve been in the Anne Arundel area for a while, you might remember the shop as far back as 1971 and under the name “Kitty’s Dawg Patch.” The business has remained in the family, and you can rest assured that the skills, experience and professionalism are still with us with even more talent and education added to ensure a pleasant and rewarding visit to Kitty’s Canine Clips.
Kitty’s Canine Clips is conveniently located off of Chinquapin Round Road on Lincoln Dr. in Annapolis. We try to greet each pet by name with the help of our rescued kitty “Pumpkin” as each pet enters the salon. Our grooming clients then meet up with their individual groomer for specific grooming instructions, skin care needs, and return time. We have many options available for haircuts, therapeutic skin care needs, teeth and nail care, shedding dogs, or just a really dirty pet!
Each pet is walked into or placed in a clean private crate with fresh water and bedding (if preferred) while waiting his or her turn. Our facility has five full time groomers with their own dryers, equipment, and bathing tubs to help eliminate any undo “crate time”. We also have multiple new and state of the art air conditioning systems to keep our grooming area cool, safe and comfortable.
Kitty’s Canine Clips offers indoor doggie daycare. If your pet needs to have some extra fun or your work schedule keeps you away for long hours, we offer two daycare areas. Daycare pets are greeted and walked when arriving at KCC. They are then buddies in their appropriate area which is complete with windows to the grooming area or office and playground equipment. Each area has fresh clean water and bedding is provided for those pets that prefer a soft nap.
Laura Thistle is a graduate of the Maryland School of Dog Grooming-1989. Because of her love and passion for grooming, Laura decided the best way to become as experienced and accomplished as possible in grooming was to learn to groom show dogs. Shortly after graduating from grooming school Laura purchased her first standard poodle puppy which she exhibited to its championship. She also went on to show many others in confirmation, obedience, and agility. Laura’s love of dogs has led her to participate in health studies with her own poodles including a bloat study and DNA study on sebatious adenitis. Her pets are certified canine good citizens/therapy dogs and or champions of breed.
Laura Thistle purchased Kitty’s Dawg Patch (now Kitty’s Canine Clips) from her former employer Catherine Wray in 1990 and has since added her professionally and technically trained skills and business acumen as well as a highly-trained and caring staff.
